Registration is now OPEN for Black Led Day on Thursday, September 17 in Detroit!

The 6th Annual Black Led Day. Join Us at Black Led Day 2026 at the Detroit Food Commons & Detroit People's Food Co-op. September 17, 2026. Registration NOW OPEN!

Black Led Day is a powerful gathering exclusively for Black cooperators, organizers, farmers and food systems workers from across the U.S. to center Black cooperative leadership.

This year’s event is co-hosted by the National Black Food and Justice Alliance (NBFJA) and the Detroit People’s Food Co-op (DPFC) and the theme is ‘And Still We Rise: Cooperating Toward a Liberated Future.’

While the Up & Coming Conference is taking a pause in 2026, Food Co-op Initiative is proud to support our partner, the National Black Food and Justice Alliance, as they move forward with the 2026 Black Led Day this September.

Started by NBFJA in 2021 as an independent yet intrinsic part of the overall Up & Coming Conference, Black Led Day will rejoin the Up & Coming Conference when the conference returns in 2027
