After 17 years of planning, organizing, tabling at farmer's markets, and hosting neighborhood gatherings, Salt Lake City has its first community-owned grocery store.

Located in the historic Milk Block building on Harvey Milk Blvd, Wasatch Food Co-op is the fourth grocery store to occupy the space since the building opened in 1942.

This full service-grocery store provides local and sustainably sourced produce, meat and seafood, bulk items, prepared foods, wellness products and more. At least 20% of what’s on the shelves at Wasatch comes from local farmers, ranchers and producers.

“Several members of the Wasatch team have taken part in FCI’s Peer Learning Group, having started in the Indigo group for Stage 2 co-ops in the 2020/2021 season. Now in the Papaya Stage 4 group, they have brought hard fought wisdom and experience to share with others that are nearing opening,” says Chris Dilley, FCI’s Director of Startup Support. “Whether peer groups, or on FCI Live calls, or as part of Up & Coming, the Wasatch team has been grappling their way through the challenges. We’re so excited for them!”
