Happy Grand Opening, Uproot Market & Eatery!

Uproot Market & Eatery celebrated their Grand Opening on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 with 375 co-op members and their entire community of supporters!

This co-op grew out of the food system development efforts of Sprout BC, an organization that’s increasing food access for Battle Creek, MI residents. Fundraising for Uproot Market began in 2021 and the organization raised nearly $500,000 from grants and memberships.

Now, Battle Creek residents and supporters have a community-owned grocery store that serves their needs. Inside the store, you’ll find fresh and local produce, frozen goods, a selection of prepared meals such as seasonal soups & breakfast sandwiches and more.
